About
The sound
A-Trak is the DJ and producer Alain Macklovitch, whose work spans turntablism, house music, hip-hop and record-label curation. A world-champion turntablist and founder of Fool’s Gold Records, he also records as part of Duck Sauce with Armand Van Helden and The Brothers Macklovitch with his brother Dave 1 of Chromeo. His remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Heads Will Roll sits alongside a catalogue of solo productions and collaborations. These include DJs Gotta Dance More with Todd Terry, U Wasn’t There with Cam’ron and the 10 Seconds series. His work with AJ Christou includes Sway and Escape, while Dancefloor pairs him with SHEE. Recorded sets show another side of that range: his own archive includes separate house and hip-hop sets recorded in Seoul, long sessions at Public Records and StereoBar, and the 58 Darts hip-hop megamix. These recordings connect his production work with his continuing practice as a performing DJ.
