ALCI

About

The sound

Alci is a Switzerland-based DJ and producer of Turkish heritage who grew up near Zurich. Hip-hop, graffiti and breakdancing led him towards turntables before his listening moved into electronic music. By seventeen he was playing on the Zurich circuit, developing a sound between funky house and minimal techno. His work combines an interest in vintage equipment with digital production tools, and he has held residencies with Zurich’s Supermarket and No Art in Amsterdam. Releases on Robsoul include the Early Beginnings series and tracks such as Spacefunk and Rump Shaker; his later catalogue includes Uma on Cadenza and Forgotten Time on Meander. He also runs Seeingsounds. His artist-owned archive includes the Hiragana and Humanized Pattern EPs, while recordings under the Shaolin Fantastic alias extend the range of his production work.
