About

The sound

Alex Kassian is a Kyoto-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer and musician whose work spans club records, live performance and composition. His early music for contemporary dance and theatre shaped an approach attentive to atmosphere and movement, alongside later film scoring and guitar-based work. As a solo artist he has released through Love On The Rocks, Utopia, Test Pressing and Pinchy & Friends. His catalogue includes Leave Your Life, Strings of Eden, Hidden Tropics, Oolong Trance and Body Singer, while his reinterpretations of E2-E4 and Tangerine Dream’s Love On a Real Train connect his productions with earlier electronic music. Kassian also collaborates with Hiroaki Oba as Opal Sunn. Beyond those recordings, he co-founded Planet Sundae and has co-hosted the Love On The Rocks radio show on Refuge Worldwide, extending his selections into ambient and downtempo listening.
