About

The sound

Alexander Skancke is a Norwegian DJ and producer based in Berlin whose work is rooted in house and techno. Active since 2006, he developed his approach through years at Bikini Waxx Records, where working with records strengthened his commitment to vinyl selection and analogue production. His DJ sets draw on that listening practice, connecting careful selection with a playful and changing musical narrative. In 2019, he established Quirk as a record label and event series, creating an outlet for his own music and collaborations. His playing history includes Hoppetosse, Berghain's Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson. His catalogue extends from earlier releases such as Clapham / Poland Street to more recent EPs including Mitsubishi Experience in 2026. Recording, running Quirk and playing records form connected parts of a career built around the underground club scene.
