About
The sound
Alok is a Brazilian DJ and producer whose bass-led dance music connects club rhythms with pop songwriting. Raised around electronic music by his DJ parents, Swarup and Ekanta, he began his professional career with Lógica in 2004 before moving into solo work in 2010. “Hear Me Now,” made with Bruno Martini and Zeeba in 2016, brought that sound to an international audience. He founded Controversia Records in 2019, following earlier ventures UP Club Records and Artist Factory. His collaborations range from Sofi Tukker and INNA on “It Don’t Matter” to Jennifer Lopez on “Everything Is Fine.” The 2024 album The Future Is Ancestral brought together music by artists from eight Brazilian Indigenous groups. Alongside recording and DJing, he established the Alok Institute in 2020 to support social and environmental projects.
