About
The sound
AZYR is the hard-techno project of Oliver Rowley, also known as Olly, from the north-west of England. He started out mixing house before moving towards faster, more forceful club music. Time spent in Sheffield during an engineering apprenticeship and a later period of focused practice helped shape his development as a DJ and self-taught producer. His releases include an early appearance on MOTZ in 2021 and The Bassline Gives Her Ecstasy on NineTimesNine’s Hidden Gems compilation in 2023. Reckless followed through Teletech, while Speed Limit Records gives his label work a home. Across these projects, his sound centres on hard techno’s pace and impact, with a bouncing rhythmic feel connecting his productions and DJ sets.
