About
The sound
Bassel Darwish is a Barcelona-born DJ and producer working across tech house and deep tech. His records focus on percussion, bass and vocal hooks, with the arrangement built around how those elements move together in a club. Alongside his own releases, he runs Distance Music, an outlet connected to that same groove-led approach. His catalogue includes music on Solid Grooves, Kaluki and Deeperfect, as well as Gate, an EP released on Dennis Cruz and Eddy M’s MÜSE label. In an interview about his production process, Darwish explained that he normally begins with percussion before adding the bassline, melodies and vocals. Playing unfinished material in DJ sets helps him judge what needs to change.
