Billy Gillies

About

The sound

Billy Gillies is a DJ and producer from Belfast whose music combines Eurodance synths, uplifting trance melodies and forceful bass rhythms. He began learning to mix as a child, influenced by Clubland compilations and the records he bought while building his first collection. In 2011 he began producing in Ableton Live, with early tracks receiving support from Judge Jules on BBC Radio 1. His 2019 Luminosity performance featured a set of his own material, helping introduce a sound shaped by both classic dance records and contemporary trance. Tracks such as Lagoon and Youth became central to that approach. His catalogue also includes Crystallize with Nu-La and Discoland with Karen Parry, bringing vocal collaborators into a body of work driven by melody and direct dance-floor energy.
