BLOND:ISH is the DJ and producer Vivie-Ann Bakos, whose work connects dance music with community-building projects. Her 2025 album Never Walk Alone developed from conversations with listeners and an interest in how music can offer encouragement and connection. Tracks including Higher and Self Love bring melodic writing and vocals into a dancefloor setting, with the latter drawing on Afro-house rhythms. That interest in connection also runs through Abracadabra, the label and event project she created. Its online community grew through Twitch broadcasts during the pandemic and continued beyond the return of in-person performances. Alongside her music, Bakos co-founded Bye Bye Plastic, a nonprofit working to reduce single-use plastics in the music industry. These projects extend her practice beyond releases and DJ sets into the communities and environments around them.
