Bonobo

About

The sound

Bonobo is the recording and performance project of Simon Green. His electronic music spans detailed studio composition, full-band concerts and club DJ sets. Albums including Migration and Fragments form part of a catalogue that brings instrumental textures, rhythm and guest voices into the same musical space. Onstage, those recordings are reworked with a live band, vocalists and visuals. Green also develops the club-facing side of his work through OUTLIER, his event and DJ platform. Distance in Static continues the relationship between intimate songwriting and dancefloor production, with collaborators including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya and Ichiko Aoba. The record brings together sessions in different cities and vocals in several languages. Fire on the Water grew from an acoustic-guitar idea and Aftab’s Urdu vocal, while Drift and Me and You reflect his continuing interest in percussion-led club music.
