About
The sound
Candidate is a Liverpool DJ and producer whose house records draw on hip-hop and R&B. His early inspiration included the rave mixtapes passed on by his mother, while his studio process often begins with a vocal sample or drum pattern. That background is reflected in the hip-house direction of his releases. His catalogue includes records for Hottrax, neXup, Three Six Zero and Belief. Beyond releasing music and DJing, he has shared production tutorials through Josh Baker's Syntho platform and created a sample pack for Samplemarket.
