About
The sound
Chico Castillo is a French singer, songwriter and guitarist with Spanish roots, also performing as The Gipsy. His music brings rumba flamenca into contact with pop and other international styles, with the guitar and his vocal delivery at its centre. His work spans live performance and songwriting as well as recordings under his own name. His writing credits include “Alabina,” and he worked with Félix Gray on songs for the musical Don Juan. Later collaborations include “Todo es la música” with Omer Adam and a version of “Mi historia entre tus dedos” with Venezuelan singer Alicia Banquez. These projects connect his flamenco background with different voices and languages while retaining the rhythmic character of rumba.
