Cody Currie is a London-born DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose house music joins jazz harmony, disco warmth, broken-beat swing and soulful live instrumentation with a clear dance-floor focus. Raised in Leytonstone, East London, he developed a fascination with retro disco licks, chopped keys and syncopated drums, then began making records while studying at Camberwell Art School. Early releases such as the Pusic EP and work for Razor-N-Tape introduced a supple, jazz-leaning production style, while his close creative relationship with Berlin label Toy Tonics connected his music to a wider European club audience. The New Chapter and Metropolis projects with Grammy-nominated pianist Joel Holmes show Currie’s interest in real-time collaboration and the meeting of electronic rhythm with acoustic touch. His debut album Lucas brings together warm house, disco, funk and pop-soul colours, with appearances from Eliza Rose, Jitwam and Ziggy, and his catalogue also includes releases through House of Disco, Shall Not Fade, Classic Music Company and Freerange. On the decks, Currie moves between deep grooves, melodic chords and lively breaks without losing a steady pulse; in the studio he uses analogue textures and live playing to keep every arrangement tactile. Support from selectors such as DJ Harvey, Honey Dijon and Gilles Peterson reflects the breadth of his appeal, from jazz-informed listening spaces to late-night clubs. Currie’s practice remains rooted in craft, curiosity and the shared physical energy of house music, with each release extending his conversation between musicianship and the dance floor.
