The sound
Current Value is the electronic music project of Berlin producer Tim Eliot, whose dark and experimental drum and bass combines precise percussion with detailed synthesis. Classical piano training and an SAE qualification preceded his long-running work in electronic production. His debut album Frequency Hunt appeared on Position Chrome in 1998, followed by Seeds of Mutation, In a Far Future and Beyond Digits. Later records such as Biocellulose widened his sound into neurofunk, while his catalogue includes Deadly Toys, PUER, Platinum Scatter and Beneath the Sonics. His studio work has also included remixes for Björk’s Biophilia and Noisia and Foreign Beggars’ Soul Purge. Alongside his solo output, Eliot works with Dean Rodell as Machine Code, a project exploring dubstep, techno and industrial sounds. Both artists also participated in Underhill, combining electronic production with elements of metal, goth rock and trip-hop. These collaborative projects sit beside his continuing solo releases and work explaining synthesis and percussion in production masterclasses.
