About

The sound

D Stone is the production alias of Dutch artist Daan Steenman. Growing up in a musical household, he began with piano at eight and guitar at twelve before moving to DJing in his teens. That instrumental background feeds a sample-driven house sound shaped by disco, funk and the club music of the 1990s. His releases include Total Unison, Envision and Forever Days. Music on Cécille, Crystal Grooves, Dark Side Of The Sun and other independent labels sits alongside the Stone Series project. Across those recordings, Steenman draws on older records while developing his own rhythmic and melodic ideas, connecting his work as a musician with the practical demands of a dancefloor.
