Dam Swindle

About

The sound

Dam Swindle is the Dutch duo of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets. Emerging in 2011, they developed a house sound that draws on disco, soul and other club traditions. Early tracks such as The Wrap Around and The Break Up established their partnership, with the album High Life later providing a broader setting for their production. The pair founded Heist Recordings in 2013. Alongside releasing their own music, the label’s Round Up series brings artists into reciprocal remix exchanges. Their work has also appeared on labels including Aus Music and Classic, connecting the duo with different parts of the international house community. Their collaborations include musicians such as Tom Misch, Seven Davis Jr., Jungle By Night and Lorenz Rhode. Those connections reflect the live playing and wider musical influences that sit beside the sampling and rhythmic construction in their records.
