About
The sound
Danny Tenaglia is a Brooklyn-born DJ and producer whose musical outlook was shaped by New York’s record culture and Larry Levan’s sets at Paradise Garage. He moved to Miami in 1985, becoming a resident at Cheers, before returning to New York and developing his production career. His remix work includes records by The Daou, Jamiroquai, Madonna and Depeche Mode. The album Hard & Soul appeared in 1995, followed by a catalogue that includes Tourism and Elements. On Elements, his spoken narration introduces the parts of a dance track as the arrangement builds around them. Tenaglia’s Be Yourself night at Vinyl became an important home for his wide-ranging DJ sets. His recorded mixes, including the Athens and London editions of Global Underground and Choice: A Collection of Classics, carried that selection beyond the club. Soul, disco, house and techno all form part of the musical history he brings to those sets.
