About
The sound
Deep Dish is the Washington, D.C. electronic music duo of Ali ‘Dubfire’ Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. Their partnership developed through DJing and production in the early 1990s, with a sound drawing on deep house, techno and more melodic club music. Their 1995 remix of De’Lacy’s Hideaway helped bring their work to a wider audience. Their 1998 album Junk Science included Stranded. The same period brought the single The Future of the Future (Stay Gold), featuring Tracey Thorn’s vocals. Alongside their own records and remixes, the duo founded Yoshitoshi Recordings in 1994, creating an outlet for other artists as well as their own work. Their catalogue also includes Flashdance, Say Hello and Quincy, reflecting the partnership’s range as producers and selectors. Their collaboration catalogue also includes Midnight with Eynka and Wrabel, Dreaming with Malou, and Love Someone Else with Nicole Moudaber and Skunk Anansie. The duo has also released Physical on Armada and remixed Moderat’s Eating Hooks.
