About
The sound
Deetron is a Swiss DJ, producer and remixer raised in Bern. Hip-hop and turntablism shaped his early approach to music, while the influence of Detroit techno became central to his sound. His three-deck mixing brings together technical precision and a broad selection, with recorded mixes for Fabric, Balance and DJ-Kicks documenting that side of his work. His productions range from vocal house to tougher techno, including collaborations with Jamie Lidell, Steve Spacek and Peven Everett. The album Music Over Matter arrived in 2013, and he launched his Character label the following year. In 2021 he released Rotational Gravity through Jeff Mills’ Axis imprint. He also records as SOULMATE, a project he revived through Ilian Tape in 2022.
