About

The sound

Dennis Ferrer is an American DJ and producer whose music moves across several strands of house. His earlier work explored techno and ambient music in the 1990s, followed by melodic house in the early 2000s. Soul, gospel, Afro-house rhythm and techno have all informed his productions, rather than defining separate, fixed phases of his sound. Alongside running Objektivity, Ferrer is known for Hey Hey and his remix of The Cure & The Cause. His long relationship with Defected connects that catalogue with later interpretations of his work: in 2024, Da Capo and Kitty Amor brought an Afro-house approach to Hey Hey.
