Derun is an Istanbul-based DJ and production duo whose music brings Eastern Mediterranean color into a wide contemporary house vocabulary. Their tracks combine organic percussion regional melodic ideas and carefully shaped electronic textures moving between deep melodic tribal and progressive moods without losing a clear dancefloor pulse. The project grew around a fascination with Istanbul's musical heritage and an open-ended approach to sound; rather than imitate one scene Derun gathers fragments from many places and lets them settle into detailed coolly composed arrangements.
