About

The sound

DESIREE is a South African DJ and producer whose selections move through multiple shades of house music. Her recorded appearances include BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, Boiler Room and Rinse FM, providing different settings for an approach built on variety and carefully shaped transitions. Her MMINO project developed from a party concept into a music platform, launching with the Intersexy EP in 2025. The release pairs its title track with Khuluma Nami, made with vocalist Jabulile Majola. Her remix catalogue includes Nina Simone’s Four Women, Disclosure and Pa Salieu’s King Steps, Keinemusik’s Pussy Power featuring Nomi Ruiz, and LP Giobbi’s All I Need. She has also reworked Salaelo Selota’s Thrrr... Phaaa!, bringing a South African jazz recording into conversation with her electronic production. In June 2026, she released Macho with Emmanuel Jal on Ninja Tune, combining Afro-house production with his multilingual vocal performance.
