DJ Dalí is the performing name of Sliti Mohamed Ali, a Tunisian DJ and producer born in Tunis and based in France. Raised in a family of DJs and producers, he was drawn to hip-hop and house before deepening his focus on the Chicago, Detroit and New York traditions. He began working professionally in 1997, first building his craft in Tunisia and later moving to Paris in 2004. His selections and productions bring soulful, funky house and techno together with the North African and Mediterranean perspective of the Tunis Diaspora 216 project. In the mid-2000s he released music on New York’s Soul People Music and later on Selekta Recordings and Lace Recordings, developing a catalogue that includes Made in 40’s, Minus, Feels So Good and the Tunis Diaspora trilogy. He also launched the Back2Mine radio show on Interface Pirate Radio, connecting his digging culture to listeners beyond the club. As the youngest of the three Sliti brothers, he works alongside DJ Mourad and DJ Nabil in Tunis Diaspora, a family project built around Detroit and Chicago grooves, deep house, techno and percussive Mediterranean colour. Dali’s work has taken him from Tunis and Paris to international rooms, where he keeps the emphasis on rhythm, warmth and musical discovery. His approach is both historically informed and open to new combinations, linking classic house language with a distinctly Tunisian sense of place.
