The sound

DJ HI-C is a Japanese DJ and producer whose turntablism background developed into a focus on techno. With the turntable unit Kireek, he won the DMC team title in five consecutive years, from 2007 to 2011. After Kireek ended, he shifted his attention towards electronic club music while continuing work beyond the DJ booth.

He is one of the organisers of MOMENT, an outdoor party in Japan’s Kansai region. With Toru Ikemoto and Teno, he co-founded the Kansai techno label aum recordings. His releases have also appeared on NECHITO, DifferentSound, duplicity, Balls Baile and Wabisabi Records, connecting his own production to several independent labels.

His catalogue includes EN EP, RASEN EP, Yao, Kyuhoji and Kami, together with remixes such as Mimei and Asiko. His official music page also presents Dune and DJ Nobu’s remix of that track. Performances at Fuji Rock Festival in July 2023 and Future Terror that December form part of his development within the techno scene.

His production extends to clothing and skateboarding projects, including Converse Skateboarding and Tightbooth’s LENZ III. He has also produced an album for Okinawan rapper RITTO. These commissions sit alongside original club records, remixes and the turntable skills developed through his earlier group work.
