DJ Koze

About

The sound

DJ Koze is German DJ and producer Stefan Kozalla. His work moves between house, techno, pop and unusual sampled textures, following a path that began in hip-hop with Fischmob in the 1990s. Around the turn of the millennium he helped form International Pony, bringing an electronic-pop strand into his collaborative work. His solo albums develop that range through different voices and musical settings. Amygdala, released in 2013, features collaborators including Caribou, Apparat and Matthew Dear. Knock Knock followed in 2018 with guests such as Róisín Murphy, José González and Kurt Wagner, and includes the single Pick Up. Koze's production work also extends beyond his own records: he produced Murphy's 2023 album Hit Parade. His 2025 album Music Can Hear Us continues his solo catalogue on Pampa Records, alongside a substantial remix discography that includes work for Moderat, Låpsley and Gorillaz.
