About

The sound

Dubfire is the solo project of Ali Shirazinia, an Iran-born DJ and producer raised in the United States. He developed his musical experience in bands and local clubs around Washington, D.C., before forming Deep Dish with Sharam Tayebi. His solo work focuses on underground house and techno, with an emphasis on precise rhythms and minimal electronic textures. Tracks including RibCage, Emissions and Roadkill established that direction in 2007, alongside the development of his SCI+TEC label. His work extends beyond individual tracks to audiovisual performance: HYBRID launched in 2015, while the EVOLV album and show continued his exploration of sound and visual technology. The documentary Above Ground Level follows his journey from childhood in Iran to his career in electronic music.
