About
The sound
Echonomist is the solo project of Greek DJ and producer Petros Manganaris, who grew up in Thessaloniki. A childhood synthesizer sparked his interest in sound design, and he later explored electronic downtempo music with the band IνΦο. DJing developed alongside that live work, with influences extending from Detroit electronics to the atmospheric drum and bass of LTJ Bukem. His productions have appeared on Innervisions, Afterlife, Kompakt and TAU. Synthesizer programming remains central to a catalogue that includes the Virtuality and Night Versions EPs and the Panic Attack collaboration with Jenia Tarsol. The 2023 album Secret Places broadens that palette through songs with Alexandros Miaris, Avangart Tabldot and Nadia Ali, moving between ambient passages, techno and electronic pop.
