About

The sound

Ellen Allien is a Berlin electronic musician, DJ and label head whose work connects techno with darkwave, experimental sound and the city’s club culture. Her recorded catalogue extends from Stadtkind to the collaborative Orchestra of Bubbles with Apparat and her 2026 album New Life. She has also worked with Ash Code on Dance and Kill and remixed artists including Beck, Kittin, Gudrun Gut, Aux 88, Ben Klock and Lebanon Hanover. Alongside production, her broadcasting history includes Braincandy on Germany’s Kiss FM. She organises We Are Not Alone at RSO in Berlin, presents the UFO Rave series and takes Vinylism into record shops. As head of BPitch and UFO Inc., she develops these activities alongside a catalogue of releases by other electronic musicians. UFO Inc., founded in 2018, provides an outlet for raw, rave-focused techno. Her pandemic-era Balcony Streaming sessions and the We Are Not Alone compilations led into AFTER DARK, a film and installation made with Stini Roehrs and presented at Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof with an original soundtrack.
