About
The sound
Fatboy Slim is the dance-music alias of Norman Cook, whose career took him from playing bass in the Housemartins to the sample-driven sound of Brighton's big-beat scene. He also worked through Beats International and Freakpower before developing Fatboy Slim, combining breakbeats, vocal samples and club-ready hooks. Early Skint releases included “Santa Cruz” and “Everybody Loves a 303,” followed by the debut album Better Living Through Chemistry. “The Rockafeller Skank” and You've Come a Long Way, Baby expanded that catalogue, while his remixes of “Renegade Master” and “Brimful of Asha” became another defining part of his production work. Brighton's Big Beat Boutique provided a club setting for the same musical approach.
