Floorplan

About

The sound

Floorplan is the house project of Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric Hood. Robert began releasing under the name in 1996, using it to explore a more gospel-influenced sound alongside his minimal techno work. Lyric joined the project in 2016, developing Floorplan into a shared production and DJ partnership. The duo’s records connect house rhythms with the voices and feeling of gospel. Their albums include Victorious on M-Plant and Supernatural on Aus Music, followed by The Master’s Plan on Classic Music Company. The latter brings together contributors including Dames Brown, Earthtone and Lowell Pye, with Honey Dijon joining them on “Fake & Unholy.” Floorplan’s remixes have also reached beyond their own albums, with versions of music by Ten City, Pet Shop Boys and Oliver Dollar.
