About

The sound

Floyd Lavine is a DJ and producer whose music places African influences within a broad electronic palette. His selections move through Afro-rooted rhythms, techno and disco, with an emphasis on groove and a shared sense of connection on the dance floor. His production and remix work has appeared through labels including Innervisions and Ninja Tune, and he has reworked music by Kerri Chandler and Coldcut. In 2021 he launched Afrikan Tales, a label intended to give artists space to tell their own stories through music. Its focus includes musicians from the African continent and artists elsewhere whose work draws on African culture.
