About
The sound
Green Velvet is the Chicago DJ and producer Curtis Alan Jones, also known as Cajmere. His Cajual and Relief labels provided outlets for different sides of his work: house records under Cajmere and the more techno-oriented Green Velvet project. Spoken vocal hooks, humour and tightly focused rhythms run through records such as “Preacher Man,” “Flash” and “Answering Machine.” The Green Velvet catalogue expanded into albums with Constant Chaos, followed by Whatever and Walk In Love. “La La Land” became another defining recording, while live performances brought keyboards and additional musicians into the project.
