About
The sound
Horse Meat Disco is the DJ collective of Jim Stanton, James Hillard, Luke Howard and Severino Panzetta. The project began at The Eagle in Vauxhall, London, on New Year's Day 2004. Their selections connect disco and post-disco with house, funk, soul and Italo, drawing on both familiar records and less widely heard material. The party grew from its London beginnings into an international DJ project with a strong connection to queer club culture. Their recorded work includes four Strut compilations released between 2009 and 2014 and the 2020 album Love and Dancing on Glitterbox/Defected. Horse Meat Disco Presents Disco & Boogie From Brazil, Vol. 1 continued their compilation work through Mr Bongo. Their remix catalogue includes Jessie Ware's Sauna, Lykke Li's Lucky Again, and Free To Love by Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers, extending the collective's work from selecting records into production.
