Ignez is a Dutch DJ and producer based in Berlin whose sound is shaped by the coast where he grew up. Waves, dunes and open space became recurring references in his musical imagination, but the records are not pastoral: they are tight, hypnotic and built from precise percussion, low-end pressure and slowly changing textures. His work resists a simple genre label while staying rooted in contemporary techno, with minimal structures that give the smallest rhythmic shift emotional weight. He founded Somov Records in 2019 as a home for that aesthetic. The imprint moves from hard-driven organic techno toward ambient and experimental spaces, and its releases document an artist who treats label curation as part of his own practice rather than a separate business. Ignez’s catalogue includes music on Token, SK_eleven, ÆX, WSNWG and The Third Room, alongside a long sequence of Somov releases such as SMV001 through SMV017. Collaborations with Rødhåd produced two EPs and extended his palette without diluting the spare, oceanic character of the solo work. A long-running relationship with Eerste Communie has given him a place to develop patient, long-form sets, while his appearances at Berghain, Panorama Bar, RADION and other international rooms have connected the project to a broad underground audience. His DJ performances emphasize immersion over spectacle: grooves evolve by accumulation, melodies surface like distant light and the room is invited to settle into a shared pulse. Ignez’s work is therefore as much about atmosphere and attention as it is about tempo. The music keeps one foot in the physical force of the dancefloor and the other in a more reflective, textural world, allowing his records and sets to feel both rigorous and open-ended.
