About

The sound

James Hype is a British DJ and producer from the Wirral. He began using turntables at 15 and took on a regular Liverpool club night at 18, developing his technique through years of club sets. House and tech house form the centre of his sound, with UK garage, R&B and hip-hop among his influences. More Than Friends brought a wider audience in 2017, followed by Ferrari with Miggy Dela Rosa in 2022. His performances use four decks, loops, live edits and mashups, making the manipulation of familiar records part of the show. Alongside his own productions and DJ sets, he runs the Stereohype label and develops DJ education through Real DJing.
