Jan Blomqvist

About

The sound

Jan Blomqvist is a singer, songwriter, producer and live electronic musician whose work combines a distinct vocal presence with melodic club production. His early musical background involved grunge, guitars and drums before his work developed within Berlin’s electronic scene. Songwriting and live performance remain central to his work: voice, musicianship and electronic arrangements shape the project beyond the format of a DJ set. His third studio album, MUTE, arrived in February 2025 through his Disconnected label in partnership with Armada Music. Written while touring and completed in Berlin, its twelve-track core follows themes of reflection, anxiety and renewed connection. Its collaborations include Destination Lost with Rodriguez Jr., Midnight Sun with Natascha Polké and The Robot Test with Felix Raphael and Peer Kusiv. The catalogue has since developed through MUTE remixes and new versions of More with Elena Pitoulis, including interpretations by Klangkarussell, Marten Lou and Zerb. These records connect his introspective songwriting to a wider network of electronic producers.
