Jane Ryse

About

The sound

Jane Ryse is the artist name of Janine Risse, a Berlin-based DJ, producer, vocalist and songwriter with Congolese roots. Her work centres on Afro house, combining her activities as a selector with vocal and songwriting work. She is connected with Berlin's RISE collective, bringing those different musical roles into the same electronic-music project. Her collaborative single Congo, recorded with Melane, was released on RISE MUSIC in June 2025. Written by Melane and sung by both artists, it joins Afro-influenced production with lyrics about identity, belonging and cultural memory. Melane opens with vocals in Lingala before Jane Ryse takes over later in the recording.
