About

The sound

Jayda G is a Canadian DJ and producer whose house music draws on soul, disco, R&B and funk. Raised in Grand Forks, British Columbia, she began learning piano and violin as a child. A move to Berlin helped turn those musical interests into her first solo releases, including Jaydaisms, the Alexa Dash collaboration Diva Bitch and Sacred Spaces on her own JMG Recordings imprint. Her debut album, Significant Changes, arrived on Ninja Tune in 2019, the same year she completed a master’s degree in Resource and Environmental Management specialising in environmental toxicology. She later created JMG Talks to bring environmental scientists’ research to a wider audience. Her musical catalogue includes the Grammy-nominated Both of Us, made with Fred again.., and a DJ-Kicks compilation. On the 2023 album Guy, she combined house, disco and pop songwriting with recordings of her father’s voice. The project uses those recordings as part of its musical narrative, connecting family history with her approach to dance music.
