Jesse Calosso

About

The sound

Jesse Calosso is a Bronx-born DJ and producer whose house and tech-house sound grew from a family interest in disco. He developed a close musical friendship with the Martinez Brothers, sharing records and later collaborating with them. His production influences include DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Robert Armani, with disco samples often providing a starting point for his own tracks. Serving Size and Whatever Right Now appeared on Tuskegee’s The Come Up Vol. 1. His debut solo EP, The Incoming, followed through Cuttin’ Headz, combining brisk percussion with basslines and sampled drum sounds. In discussing that record, Calosso described an approach rooted in groove and the character of New York club music, while remaining open to influences from elsewhere. His collaborative work also includes Masters at Dutch with the Martinez Brothers and Blas Cordero.
