John Bowtie

About

The sound

John Bowtie is a Dubai-based DJ and producer whose selections move through deep, minimal, tech and classic house, UK garage and hard house. He grew up with a nightclub DJ father, began playing drums at fifteen and played in rock bands until his early twenties before focusing on electronic music. That background feeds into a DJ approach built around the room and audience rather than a fixed sequence of tracks. His production work focuses on groove and sound design, with collaborations including Moojo on Calamar Records and N-You-Up on Meloko’s AZZUR label. La Rue and Chicago form part of his collaborative catalogue with N-You-Up. Alongside his releases, he shares extended club and vinyl sets, including recordings from Gate Two in Dubai and a back-to-back session with Paul Svenson.
