About
The sound
John Talabot is the electronic-music identity of Barcelona artist Oriol Riverola, whose work spans production, DJ sets and the Hivern Discs label. His catalogue includes Sunshine, DJ-Kicks: John Talabot and Without You, while Talaboman is his collaboration with Axel Boman. His own recorded-mix archive includes the NTS series Music for Days Like These and a MakingTime 2024 set, alongside remixes and edits. In 2026 Riverola introduced OR, an alias using his initials, for Music for Empty Stadiums on AD 93. The project grew from sketches made during the 2020 lockdown and developed into fast, melodic, largely beatless music. After Nic Tasker heard some of the material for an NTS programme, the pair worked towards an album release. Its seventeen tracks follow the order in which the pieces were created. Scheduled for 30 October 2026, the album opens a distinct strand of Riverola’s work while remaining connected to the broader musical practice behind John Talabot.
