Jonathan Kaspar is a Cologne-based DJ and producer whose music connects the city’s club culture with a broad strand of contemporary house and techno. Kompakt identifies him as a hometown artist and a resident of Gewölbe, the Cologne club where extended sets became central to his approach. He first discovered the Kompakt catalogue in 2007 and later returned to it as the selector behind the label’s Connecting The Dots mix, using precise transitions and long-form pacing to trace links between pop techno, funk, ambient music and the label’s more driving records. His own releases have appeared on Kompakt and its KX imprint as well as Cocoon Recordings, Innervisions, Crosstown Rebels, Ouïe, Pets Recordings and Objektivity. The Kante and Muster EPs established a vocabulary built from rolling percussion, acid-tinged movement, electro-funk details and warm melodic tension; later records including Umfang, Overfree, We Come, the two-part Twofold project and the 2026 Time EP widened that range without losing the patient architecture of his DJ sets. His remixes for artists including John Digweed, Sven Väth, Joris Voorn, Kölsch, Tiga, Acid Pauli and Damian Lazarus further show how he reshapes established material through rhythm and atmosphere. Artist-controlled channels document all-night recordings, radio mixes and studio releases, while Spotify and Apple Music carry a catalogue that spans original productions, remixes and extended DJ mixes.
