Judge Jules is the stage name of Julius O'Riordan, a London DJ, producer, promoter, broadcaster and music lawyer whose career has linked British radio, club culture and Ibiza since the late 1980s. He began playing professionally in 1987 and became known through Kiss FM before joining BBC Radio 1 in 1997. His Saturday broadcasts developed into a national weekend institution, balancing new house and trance records with accessible dance music and live coverage from clubs and festivals. After Radio 1, he continued the format internationally through the syndicated Global Warm Up, maintaining a weekly route for new releases and guest artists. As an A&R figure at Manifesto Records, Jules helped bring influential dance records to a wider audience. His production partnership with Paul Masterson produced work under names including Hi-Gate, VPL and The Clergy; Hi-Gate's Pitchin', Caned and Unable and Gonna Work It Out became UK chart records, while Jules also built an extensive catalogue of mixes, compilations, remixes and solo releases. Later records such as Proven Worldwide, Bring the Noise, Deep & Meaningful, Good Space, First In Last Out and The Fiddle document a recording career that continued alongside broadcasting and touring. Ibiza forms a distinct part of his history. He established Judgement Sundays as a long-running San Antonio club institution, combining trance and house with a resident-led identity and returning repeatedly to the island as a performer and promoter. His official channels describe nearly four decades behind the decks and continue to publish Global Warm Up episodes, music and performance information. Alongside that work he practises as a specialist music lawyer, bringing direct industry experience to rights and contract matters while remaining active as a DJ and producer.
