About

The sound

KiNK is the Bulgarian DJ, producer and live performer Strahil Velchev. His approach to house, techno and acid centres on hands-on electronic performance, using machines and controllers to reshape rhythms and arrangements as he plays. The physical connection between an instrument and the sound it produces is a defining part of his live work. Early collaborations with Neville Watson for Rush Hour helped bring his productions to a wider audience. His recording catalogue includes Cloud Generator and the album Playground, alongside releases such as Hyper Epic, Piano Power and Time. Versions, released through Running Back in November 2025, presents Comin and several versions of Pump. Velchev also works under the Kirilik alias and developed Sofia Records with Konstantin Petrov. His collaborations include music with Raredub, while commissions for Christopher Bauder’s light installations have taken his composition work beyond the club. Improvisation remains central to the relationship between his studio recordings and live performances.
