About
The sound
Kölsch is the Danish DJ and producer Rune Reilly Kölsch, whose melodic techno draws on personal memories as well as the repetition and groove of house music. His Kompakt albums 1977 and 1983 explore childhood and travel: the latter takes its starting point from journeys across Europe and the records he heard along the way. Tracks including “Der Alte” and “Cassiopeia” established this combination of dance-floor rhythm and prominent melody. His remix work includes Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” and Eric Prydz’s “Generate.” He has cited Chicago house, Underground Resistance, DJ Pierre and Robert Hood among the influences behind his approach to electronic music.
