Lavern

About

The sound

Lavern is the electronic project of Dutch producer and DJ Laurens Elshof. Growing up near Amsterdam, he began making music at thirteen after discovering Avicii’s True and seeing Afrojack perform. He developed his DJ skills at local parties before introducing the Lavern name with Move Me in 2021. Move Me and the later Hold Me established a sound associated with stutter house, balancing rhythmic vocal fragments with a softer melodic feel. His catalogue also includes a reworking of Francis Lai’s La Leçon Particulière and Human on STMPD RCRDS. Touring brought the studio project into clubs internationally, including a 2024 itinerary across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
