Lil Louis

About

The sound

Lil Louis is the Chicago house DJ and producer Louis Burns. His musical background began with drums and bass, before he started DJing in the 1970s. By 1980 he was making recordings of his own, extending the music he played in clubs into a studio practice. An early release, How I Feel / Frequency, appeared on Dance Mania. French Kiss later became a defining record in his catalogue, while the album From the Mind of Lil Louis brought it together with I Called You and Blackout. Journey with the Lonely followed with songs including Club Lonely and Saved My Life. Those albums sit alongside his wider work as a producer and songwriter, extending a career rooted in Chicago DJ culture.
