Lindsey Matthews

About

The sound

Lindsey Matthews is a Swansea-born DJ and producer working across house, minimal and dub-influenced club music. Dance was part of her childhood, while listening to artists such as Daft Punk and Masters at Work helped shape the musical interests she later brought to the booth. She bought her first decks at twenty and began DJing in 2014. Her selections developed around the meeting of bass-heavy house, dub techno and the more restrained rhythms of Romanian house, with Midland, Cristi Cons and Kenny Dope among her influences. Matthews uses vocal parts and acapellas to add another layer to her sets, sometimes working them across a third deck. Her approach adapts tempo and low-end movement to the room, connecting a background in dance with the practical detail of arranging records in a live set.
