Locklead

About

The sound

Locklead is the Dutch DJ and producer Wesley Endeman, whose house music developed in Utrecht. His listening began with a strong interest in hip-hop, while the energy of Olene Kadar’s live performances helped draw him towards house and tech house. His release history includes SlapFunk, Pleasure Zone and Dungeon Meat, alongside work for Up The Stuss. Across his DJ selections, he is drawn to the rougher edges of late-1990s and early-2000s house, favouring records with character over a heavily polished sound. He has described a preference for tracks that sustain their rhythm rather than relying on large breakdowns. That approach leaves room for small changes in percussion and momentum, with the groove doing much of the work in a set.
