Luciano

About

The sound

Luciano is a Swiss-Chilean DJ and producer whose musical background connects Latin rhythms with house and techno. Born in Switzerland and brought up in Santiago, he moved from an interest in Latin rock into Chile’s developing electronic music community, with Detroit techno among his influences. His later European releases appeared through labels including Perlon, Peacefrog, M_nus and Playhouse. In 2003 he founded Cadenza, creating a home for his productions and for artists including Ricardo Villalobos, Reboot and Arapu. The label’s catalogue brings percussive house and techno into conversation with Latin musical ideas, while its Cadenza Lab strand provides an outlet for developing producers. His work also extends beyond the club: Arctic Sounds draws on recordings of the natural environment. That project adds a different listening context to a career built around DJ performance, record production and the development of Cadenza.
